Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has claimed that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is the best manager in the world.

The 22-year-old summer signing has suffered a stuttering start to his Old Trafford career, picking up two knee injuries, which has limited his game-time to just 10 Premier League starts.

The Ivorian defender was Jose Mourinho's first signing as United manager in a £30m deal from Villarreal.

But Mourinho's start hasn't been quite as successful as first thought, with United already sitting 13 points behind league-leaders Chelsea in 6th.

"He's [Mourinho] a great manager, the best in the world, it is a pleasure to work and learn with him. I hope it continues like this and that I stay at United for a long time," Bailly toldSky Sportsin defence of Mourinho's poor start.

He added:"I'm truly happy, with my team and my team-mates. Bit by bit, I'm getting to know more."

Bailly had beena star player for Villarreal in recent seasons, picking up 46 appearances before earning his Old Trafford switch, and he feels as though he's adjusting well to life in the Premier League.

"From what I see, football in Spain, they also have a great League. La Liga is the best in the world, but here it is different, very direct, there is more contact and more strength," he continued.

"And like I said, little by little, and with more training under this manager, I hope to improve. Manchester is a nice place, I'm happy here."
