Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward have held talks with Gareth Bale's agent over a potential move for the Welsh star, according to reports fromDiario Golin Spain.

The report even claims thatBale himself may well end up forcing a move through himself unless Real Madrid give him the same superstar treatment as Ronaldo.

However, the Galacticos are looking to actually extend the formerTottenham star's current contract in an attempt to keep him at the Bernabeu for years to come, offering him an astonishing £17m-per-year.Bale made his big money move from White Hart Lane to Santiago Bernabeu three years ago for £85m.

Despite starting 116 times in those three years, with 61 goals, the Welshman is increasingly frustrated at being second best to Ronaldo after hoping he would become the club's main man sooner rather than later.

With Ronaldo looking to go nowhere anytime soon, Bale may try and force a move back to the Premier League to become the marquee player at his club once again, despite becoming the first British footballer to reach 50 La Liga goals recently.

Rumours have only increased speculation with the Wales international reportedly falling out with manager and French legend Zinedine Zidane last month.

Having previously played in the Premier League with Tottenham and Southampton, Baleis alreadyexperiencedand fullyequippedto play in the Premier League, allowing him to potentially have an instant impact.

Manchester United are still looking to improve their squad despite breaking the world-record fee to bring in Paul Pogba in the summer with a host of new arrivals including that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mourinho clearly sees Bale as the man to improve his new side.
