Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Atletico Madrid central defenderJose Gimenez, according toThe Mirror.

Jose Mourinho is interested in signing another central defender following United's third defeat in a row; the 3-1 loss to Watford at Vicarage Road was preceded by the defeat to Feyenoord in the Europa League and Manchester City last weekend.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho bought Eric Bailly for £30m from Villarreal in the summer but is rumoured he wants another player.

The Red Devils sent scouts to watch Jose Gimenez in Atletico's Champions League match against PSV, where they won 1-0.

The Uruguayan is highly rated by Diego Simeone and was heavily involved in the first team last season where he played 27 times in the league, helping Atletico achieve 15 clean sheets.
