Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand Impressed by Current Arsenal Squad

Former Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has admitted he is very impressed with the current crop of Arsenal players and likens their options to title-winningUnited teams of the past.

Writing intheEvening Standard,he suggests thatArsenal are not thesoft touches they have been in seasons gone by and it might be the season for them to really challenge for silverware.

Arsenal were fortunate to escape from Old Trafford with a point last week after registering just one shot on target. This shot came in the form of a goal-scoring header from Olivier Giroud who was assisted by fellow substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The former England captain whowon six Premier League titles and over 15 trophies over the course of his United career was impressed by the options Arsene Wenger hadat his disposal to be able to change the game so late on.

We are also starting to see that Arsenal do have a strong squad, with good options on the bench.

I have said before that Olivier Giroud is a great Plan B and he showed that again with the equaliser at Old Trafford.

But the man who provided the assist was also a substitute in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - another quality player.

You do need players who can come on and change a game. At United we had people outside the first XI who could do that ” players like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Javier Hernandez.

The Gunners are currently unbeaten in 11 Premier League games since a 4-3 loss to title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in their opening fixture of the 2016-17 season.
