The 18-year-old has established himself as a key player under manager Erik ten Hag this season, displaying a level of maturity and composure beyond his years.

Although Mainoo signed a contract extension at Old Trafford in February 2023, running until 2027, talks have begun for an improved deal following his impressive performances during the current 2023/24 season.

Both the club and Mainoo's representatives are reportedly calm about the situation, with Mainoo focused on finishing the campaign strongly on the field.

Having already met performance-related targets in his existing contract, negotiations for a new deal are expected to progress further in the summer.

With 18 senior appearances for United this season, Mainoo credited manager Erik ten Hag for providing him with opportunities to transition from the youth setup.

Additionally, there is a reported tug-of-war between Ghana and England regarding Mainoo's international allegiance at the senior level.
