Manchester United zeroing in on Roma defender

Published on: 08 January 2019

Roma defender Kostas Manolas tops the list of targets Manchester United are looking at ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are keen to shore up their backline, and with Atletico Madrid stalwart Diego Godin set to land with Inter, the English giants have quickly turned their attention elsewhere.

Tuttomercatoweb.com reports the top name being looked at is Manolas, as United scouts were in attendance to watch the Greek defender during Roma’s recent match with Juventus.

The defender has a €36 million release clause in his contract that becomes valid in June, and all signs point to the Red Devils paying that fee.

Reports also suggest Manolas’ agent – Mino Raiola – has already held talks with United, and that a contract worth €6m plus bonuses over five years is in the works.

Manolas joined Roma from Olympiacos in 2013. He has gone on to score nine goals in 192 matches in all competitions for the Giallorossi.
