World Cup winner, Marcel Desailly has implored Ghana to start the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on a good note.

Ghana have been pitted in Group G alongside South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

The qualifiers are expected to kick off in October 2020.

Despite the tricky nature of the group, the former Chelsea legend beleives Ghana can qualify for the tournament but must start on a good note.

Speaking after the draw, he said, “The Black Stars look like a new team because there are some new faces.

“There is a new coach who is a former captain of the national. He has more coaching experience but they have to start the qualifiers very well because the balance of the group is good but I am expecting a tough match against South Africa.

“I am confident Ghana will qualify for the tournament in Qatar,” he added.

Desailly won the World Cup with France in 1998.

CK Akonnor will be hoping to lead Ghana to a fourth World Cup appearance.
