Mariano Barreto cautions match officials ahead of Asante Kotoko tie with Dreams FC

Asante Kotoko head coach, Mariano Barreto has appealed to match officials to protect his players ahead of their game against Dreams FC.

The Porcupine Warriors will host the Still Believe lads at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in the matchday 23 games n Saturday.

The Portuguese manager has in the past called on officials to protect skilful players in the Ghana Premier League.

However, after forcing left-back Ibrahim Imoro to come off due to injury against Legon Cities, Barreto is urging match officials to protect his players.

“Some of my players were on the receiving end of bad tackles, and no action was taken against them," he said.

”Now I have Imoro out injured. This is the second time since my arrival that Imoro has been forced off through injury as a result of a bad tackle from the opposition.

“Football is not about kicking people, but rather about respect, and trying to win,” he said.

The game will be officiated by Andrews Awurisa and will be assisted by Emmanuel Allou and Gilbert Adom Mensah.

The game has been scheduled to kick off at 15:00GMT.
