Olympique Marseille icon Jean-Pierre Papin is frustrated seeing the club allow Bafetimbi Gomis to slip away.
Gomis, on-loan from Swansea City, enjoyed an impressive season with OM, but is now close to agreeing a move with Galatasaray.
Papin told La Phoceen: "Gomis, a disappointment for me? Yes. Perhaps the project that was proposed to him does not suit him, because he said he did not wish to be a substitute. But with 20 goals scored in the championship, I would have made the effort to keep him.
"The leaders may not have had the words to convince him. It is a pity, because he had been well integrated, he loved the club. We lose an important element in the team."
