Match Report: Hearts of Oak end WAFA's winning streak

Hearts of Oak delivered a stunning performance as they beat leaders, WAFA 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon to move to third on the Ghana Premier League log.

The Phobians were strong, dominant and determined from the blast of referee Prince Amoah with WAFA finding it difficult to catch up.

However, the Phobian's dominance paid off when skipper ,Thomas Abbey rose above his marker to head Home Wilful Cobbinah's free-kick in the third minute.

WAFA came to live as they went in search for an equalizer with Togolese import, Komla Agbeniadian troubling the Phobian defense with his pace and power as he skipped past defense but was unable to test Heart's shotstopper, Samuel Akrugu.

However, Hearts came to increasing their tally in the 24 minutes as Patrick Razak's shot was parried away by Razak Abalora.

The Phobians were able to hold their solitary lead and take it to the break.

WAFA began the second half on a bright note, dominating possession in the midfield but failed to break Hearts' resolute defense.

Hearts' doubled their lead through Wilful Cobbina when WAFA goalkeeper, Razak Abalora failed to deal with his weak free-kick in the 64 minutes.

WAFA pilled pressure on the Phobians in the latter stages of the game and got a consolation through defender, Abubakr Ibrahim.

Hearts were able to hold their lead and moved them to third on the league log.

Fatau Mohammed was adjudged the man of the Match.
