Thomas Abbey scored a brace as Accra Hearts of thrash regional rivals Tema Youth 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Match Day 24 of the Ghana Premier League.

Captain of Accra Hearts of Oak Thomas Abbey scored his 11th and 12th goal of the season in another man of the match performance by the winger with striker Kwame Kizito grabbing the other for the Phobians.

The former Champions began the game on a good note with so much verve and composure, dictating and controlling the match.

It took until the half hour mark as Hearts were awarded a penalty and the ever dependent captain was the slot home for the host.

Following the painful defeat suffered to the same side in the first round, Hearts continued to push for a second but were denied by a resolute Tema Youth defence.

Both sides went into the half with Abbey’s penalty the only difference in the first period of the game.

Tema Youth returned to the second half making an early substitution as Yussif Ibrahim coming in for the Harbour side but his inclusion did not stop an inspired Accra Hearts of Oak.

Kwame Kizito was on hand to head in a rebound from a Patrick Razak shot that the Tema Youth goalkeeper failed to grab to make it 2-0.

The Phobians enjoyed a fair chunk of possession but with a minute to end the game they were stunned by a Prince Owusu strike after the Harbour boys were awarded a penalty.

Meanwhile, Hearts had the last bite of the cake when winger and captain Thomas Abey scored a cracking goal to secure all three points for the Phiobians.
