MATCH REPORT: Kotoko 1-1 Bechem United

Published on: 08 May 2019

A determined Bechem United endured the home dominance of Kumasi Kotoko to end their match week 9 fixture of the GFA Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition in a one all draw.

Ahead of this matchup, the Porcupines Warriors needed to win at all cost to ensure they piled pressure on Medeama SC who currently occupy top spot one Premier A standings of the competition.

In today’s encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, two quick goals in the first five minutes was the only highlight as either sides failed to find the back of the net in the remaining minutes to win the game.

Though Bechem will be content with the draw, Kotoko surely will not be amused due to the fact that Medeama is gradually slipping away from their sight in the race to finish top of the table.

The Tarkwa based side recorded an important home win over Obuasi Ashanti Gold which now sees them on 19 points and 4 point adrift Kotoko who comes in 2nd on the log.

Kotoko has no option than to win the Ashanti Derby this weekend if they do want to qualify to the next phase of the special competition.
