Kumasi Asante Kotoko recorded their first victory under new coach Steve Pollack when they defeated Tema Youth 1-0 on Sunday at the Tema Park.
The win was secured courtesy a superb strike by midfielder Baba Mahama in the second half.
The goal was Mahama's second since Pollack took charge of the team a few weeks ago.
Tema Youth by virtue of their dominance in possession during the first half should have scored a goal but their profligacy in front of goal let their opponents off on many occasions.
Kotoko was a much-improved side after the break and got a deserved reward when Mahama scored.
The former Techiman City talisman unleashed a great shot which flew past the keeper and into the net to settle the clash in favour of the away side.
Kotoko has moved up to fifth while Tema Youth is now in the drop zone following the result.
