Mauricio Pochettino Praises Character of Spurs Players After North London Derby Draw

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has hailed the character of his players after they battled to a 1-1 draw against rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Harry Kane's second half penalty was enough to maintain Tottenham's unbeaten start to the season, and Pochettino admitted he was delighted with the result.

"I'm very happy with the performance,'' he said after the game, quoted byESPN. "I think we played well at a very difficult place. Arsenal are on a very good run and have momentum.

"Our players deserve full credit today -- they were fantastic. We showed big, big character to get back into the game.''

The Argentine also backed Kane to make his way into the next England squad, with an upcoming international break on the horizon.

"Can he be in the England squad? I think yes,'' he added."Now the doctor is assessing him but I think it is not a problem.''

Asked about Kyle Walker, who limped off in the second half, and Dele Alli who was absent through a kneeinjury, Pochettino said:"I haven't had time to see Kyle Walker, he is with a doctor too.

"We will see after the press conference if he can go or not. Dele Alli suffered a minor problem in his knee. He clashed doing tactics yesterday and twisted his knee a little bit. It's a minor, minor problem but impossible he could be available today.''

Spurs remain in fifth place in the Premier League standings after the draw, five points off leaders Liverpool.
