Medeama SC to sue Hearts of Oak over Malik Akowuah signing

Published on: 07 November 2016

Former African Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak are set to face the music following their inappropriate signing of Medeama SC star Malik Akowuah.

The Phobians during the late hours of Monday confirmed that they had completed the signing of the midfielder who excelled with the Tarkwah-based club last season.

However, reports indicate that Hearts of Oak used the back door in signing Malik Akowauh who still has two years remaining on his contract with Medeama.

The Mauves have as a result ordered the player to return to Tarkwah and resume pre-season with the club while they legally take-on Hearts.

In a statement released by Medeama, they expressed their displeasure at how Hearts wrongfully snatched their player and therefore seek to deal with the player and Hearts of Oak legally.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Our attention has been drawn to widespread media reports claiming midfielder Malik Akowuah has joined Hearts of Oak on a long-term basis.

We would like to put on record that Medeama SC has not reached any agreement with Hearts regarding Akowuah and therefore view the latest development as an illegality.

We wish to express our indignation regarding the dealings of Hearts officials in relation to our player.

We find the conduct of Hearts illegal, shocking, anaemic and unprofessional and we will refer them to the appropriate quarters.

Hearts are in direct breach of FIFA rules regarding player transfer policy and therefore the club will take appropriate action against Hearts and the player.

The act is even more unacceptable because it comes from a club with such stature.

The club has ordered the player to return to Tarkwa with IMMEDIATE EFFECT to continue pre-season."

Signed

Moses Armah

(President)
