Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah scored as Kayserispor secured a shock 3-0 away win over Kasımpasa in the Turkish top-flight on Monday with Asamoah Gyan on the bench for the visiting side.

Mensah sealed the victory for the visitors in the 80th minute that helped Kayserispor to move away from the relegation spot with bet bonus for the odds for their next match against Akhisarspor on Sunday.

The Ghana international scored his second goal of the season that helped the visitors to secure that emphatic win in dramatic circumstances.

The home side had two penalties in the match but Romanian goalkeeper Silviu Lung was equal to the task by saving both efforts that helped to secure the important victory.

The win for the visitors is the first victory under coach Hikmet Karaman and increased their points to 15.

The result lifted Kayserispor out of the relegation zone to the 15th position in the 18-team league while Kasimpasa maintained their second position in the league but fell seven points behind league leaders Basakheshir.

Kayserispor's progress on the league table means Fenerbahce drop into the relegation zone which has sparked some crisis for the Turkish giants.

The visiting side set the tone for their important win when French player Chery opened the scoring when converting a penalty in the 21st minute after the intervention of the VAR.

The league's leading scorer Mbaye Diagne fluffed the first of the penalties for Kasimpasa when he failed to convert 15 minutes later.

Egyptian star Trezeguet also missed his penalty in the 69th minute before Deniz Turuc extended the scoreline for the visitors almost immediately in the 15th week of the Super League.

Ghana star Mensah took advantage of a pass from the edge of the box with ten minutes remaining to put the match beyond the reach of Kasimpasa who are seeking to win the league.

His compatriot Gyan continues to warm the bench for the Turkish side as injuries have taken their toll while recent coaches at the club have not made him their first choice striker.

The result in the match means Fenerbahce have dropped to the relegation zone, further increasing the pressure on caretaker coach Erwin Koeman and club president Ali Koc.

The Istanbul giant suffered a 3-0 defeat at Akhisarspor on Sunday in a Week 15 game, dropping to the 16th spot with 14 points.

Jeremy Bokila put the home team ahead in the 26th minute, while Elvis Manu doubled the score in the 82nd and Adrien Regattin putting the final nail on Fenerbahçe’s coffin in the dying minutes.

The loss was the fourth for Fenerbahçe in its last 10 league games, which has only won one of them.
