Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has opened up about his move to north London, including revealing why boss Arsene Wenger called him when he was at Real Madrid, and which club legends inspired him to join the club.

The German international made the move to the Emirates on deadline day in the summer of 2013 after the Gunners had a £42m bid accepted by Real Madrid, and has gone on to win two FA Cups and one Community Shield in his four year stintwith the club so far.

However, Ozil first heard about Wenger's interest in him while he was still at Madrid, and has spoken about exactly what the Frenchman said to him to convince him of the move.

"Moving to Arsenal was a special moment," said the 28-year-old toArsenal TV.

"When I moved to Real Madrid I spoke with Wenger, who wanted me to move to Arsenal. I said 'believe me, in the future if we get the opportunity or if Iget the opportunity to change clubs, you will be the first address for me'.
