President of Techiman City FC, Charles Kwadwo Ntim, mostly called Micky Charles says it will be better to cancel the Ghanaian 2019/2020 football season in order to synchronize it with the European leagues.
The Ghana Premier League, the Division One League, the Elite Women's League, and all other leagues in the country have been inactive as a result of the ban on the public gathering by the government as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.
While the fate of the football season hangs in the balance, Micky Charles says it will be best for the whole campaign to be declared null and void.
In an interview with Asempa FM, the football administrator explained, “I have heard people saying that we should cancel the league and there are others also saying that we should be patient and I believe all those people have their reasons”,
“Those in the Premier League are playing 36 matches and they have now played 15, in the Division One we are playing 30 matches and we have only played 13 games. It means that season has not gone that far. In order to synchronize our calendar with the European leagues, let’s cancel our league and properly plan”.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has begun engagements with stakeholders of the sports to discuss the impact of the Covid-19 disease amongst other matters including what should happen to the season.
