Milovan Rajevac must be credited for Black Stars' World Cup qualification - Randy Abbey

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Randy Abbey has stressed that Milovan Rajevac must be credited for his role in Ghana's qualification to the 2022 World Cup.

The Serbian was named as CK Akonnor's successor on a one-year renewable deal on September 2021.

The 64 year old led the Black Stars to seal a place in the playoffs where the team was paired with Nigeria.

However, after a poor 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] campaign in Cameroon, Milovan Rajevac was sacked in January 2022.

But Randy Abbey believes the former Algeria gaffer must be credited for his contribution to the team's qualification to the global showpiece.

"Remember that Milovan Rajevac helped Ghana to reach the playoffs of the 2022 World Cup. Without him, we would not have been there," he told Accra-based Original FM.

"Yes, we had a bad Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] but he must be applauded for the work he did with the team by leading the team to the playoff," he added.

Otto Addo was named Milovan Rajevac's successor. Addo led the Black Stars to beat Nigeria in a two-legged playoff tie to return to the Mundial for the fourth time in the history of the country.
