The agent of Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba, Mino Raiola, has revealed his client rejected the chance of joining Real Madrid in order to make a move back "home",Goal.comreports.

Before the 23-year-old eventually completed his protracted world-record transfer back to Manchester United, Real boss Zinedine Zidane had been vocal in his admiration of Pogba's talents and reports claimed the Spanish giants were weighing up an offer.

Pogba's super-agent has revealed last season's Champions League winners were indeed interested in signing his client, along with "five or six" other clubs but Pogba's preference was to return to the club he left in 2012.

The former Juventus midfielder, however, only told Raiola his intentions during his holiday in the USA after being left disappointed with France's loss in the Euro 2016 final.

"We never spoke about business during the Euros. He was disappointed in losing the final, Raiola told Telefoot.

"He clearly told me what he wanted. For Paul, Manchester has always been his home and I gave him the heads up about everything happening in Miami.

Zidane also wanted him, I think, as well as five or six clubs. Manchester United is stronger now with my player. Real Madrid is not".

Jose Mourinho expressed his delight upon the signing of Pogba and Raiola has revealed the former Chelsea boss tried to sign the France international last year, while at Chelsea.

He added: Mourinho wanted him already last year, but it was not the right moment.
