Hearts of Oak defender, Mohammed Alhassan has been discharged from the hospital after collapsing on Sunday, the club has confirmed.

The experienced central defender was rushed to the hospital following the Phobians stalemate with Legon Cities in the matchday 1 game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season opener.

It was initially not known what led to Alhassan's collapse after playing 90 minutes for the Rainbow club.

But according to the Communications Director of the club, Kwame Opare Addo, the defender has been discharged from the 37 Military Hospital and is doing well.

Opare Addo reiterated that the defender suffered a concussion.

According to him, the 26-year-old has been given days off by the club to fully recover.

Hearts of Oak were hoping to begin their title defense with a win but were frustrated to a goalless drawn game at their backyard.

Samuel Boadu and his charges will travel to Sogakope for their matchday 2 fixture against West African Football Academy [WAFA] on Friday.
