Former Hearts of Oak poster boy, Charles Taylor has hit out at the Accra-based club for allowing Mohammed Alhassan to leave the club.

After leaving Hearts of Oak, the highly-rated defender has signed for rival club Asante Kotoko.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Charles Taylor has applauded the Porcupine Warriors club for looking sharp and securing the services of the centre-back.

According to him, the Reds have signed a top defender who is not only better than most defenders in the Ghana Premier League but also a player who has qualities that some Black Stars defenders lack.

“Hearts of Oak rejected him, I was very surprised that Hearts allow him to leave. To me, he is better than most of the defenders we have in our league. He (Mo Alhassan) signing at Kotoko will really solve a lot of the problems of Kotoko because recently the defense of Kotoko was weak.

“It was a disgrace to the player's career for Hearts to put him on a transfer,” Charles Taylor said.

The former Hearts of Oak star added, “I thank the management of Kotoko for signing a good player of his caliber. His qualities are unique and many defenders lack that type of qualities. I can say that even some of our Black Stars players lack such quality. He should train hard and I am sure he will become one of the greatest defenders of Kotoko.”

Having only joined Asante Kotoko on Thursday, Mohammed Alhassan is in line to debut for the side on Sunday when the team takes on Dreams FC.
