After breaking into the first team at Real Valladolid in Spain, Salisu was tipped to be destined for great things.

He was touted by numerous clubs but in the end, Southampton secured his services, making him the most expensive Ghanaian defender to go to a European club.

However, his fairy tale did not have a good start, with injuries and fitness issues keeping him out of the Saints for months.

It was believed that the Ghanaian would never get the chance to prove his worth but the opportunity came during an FA cup match in February. It was against Wolverhampton Wonderers where he put up a good shift.

Since then, the former Valladolid man has been trusted by the coach to start games. He has accumulated an impressive 288 minutes in just 13 days.

Some would say injuries to other players gave him the chance but the truth is, the opportunity was always going to come. He took it well and would hopefully keep it going.
