Mohammed Salisu steps out of Black Stars AFCON qualifiers with injury

Real Valladolid have announced the withdrawal of 20-year-old centre-back Mohammed Salisu from Ghana's squad for the upcoming Afcon 2021 qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe due to injury.

The Black Stars have lost another member from their 23-man party due to injury.

Centre-back Mohammed Salisu is the latest to pull out of Ghana's squad for the 2021 (Afcon) qualifying group match  against South Africa on Thursday.

The 20-year-old was among seven debutants named in the Black Stars' 23-man squad for the double-header.

"Salisu will have to wait for his debut with the Ghanaian national team,"

"The left-hander, who has had a dragging back discomfort for several weeks, reported sharp pain in the lower back after the game against Deportivo Alavés that requires sports rest.

Salissu follows Crew right-back Harrison Afful and Deportivo Alaves midfielder Mubarak to withdraw from the qualifiers.

Ghana host South Africa in Cape Coast on Thursday and travel away for their Sao Tome fixture on Monday.
