More GPL players withdraw from Black Meteors international friendly with Japan

More Ghana Premier League players have withdrawn from the Black Meteors squad ahead of the upcoming international friendly match against Japan.

Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Great Olympics, and Karela United have all recalled their players from the camp of the team as the league enters its final stages.

The Phobians wrote to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) insisting only goalkeeper Richmond Ayi would be allowed to travel with he team. The club has also recalled midfielder Salifu Ibrahim and Striker Danile Afriyie Banie.

King Faisal have refused to allow striker Kwame Peprah to join the team for the double-header against Japan, while Asante Kotoko are only prepared to let Imoro Ibrahim travel with the squad, while Yussif Mubarik is recalled.

Great Olympics, who have the Quaye brothers in the U23 camp, have recalled Maxwell Abbey to return to the club’s camp, while Karela United have withdrawn all their players.

Most of the clubs who are either battling for the Ghana Premier league title or playing to avoid relegation maintains those players are key to their fortunes, and will only allow them to travel if the league is not halted.
