My players fought hard to beat Berekum Chelsea - WAFA coach Prosper Nartey Ogum

WAFA head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has lauded his players after their away win against Berekum Chelsea.

The Academy Boys came from behind to record a 3-2 win in the matchday 22 game at the Golden City Park o Friday.

Chelsea recorded the fastest goal in the ongoing league when Bright Amponsah scored with just 23 seconds played.

WAFA replied on the 22nd minute through Justus Torsutse to leave the game at 1-1.

WAFA went ahead a minute after scoring the equalizer through Enoch Asubonteng.

With three minutes to end the first half, Stephen Amankonah pulled parity for Berekum Chelsea from the spot-kick moving into the break.

Back from recess, WAFA got their house in order and quickly pulled a fast one on the home side.

Issah Basit capitalized on an opportunity to slot home their winner on the 48th minute.

“They [WAFA players] stayed disciplined throughout the game," he said after the game.

“We came with a tactical plan of holding on to the ball and catching them on the break.

“If you look at what happened in the dying embers of the game, and they were able to hold them for eight added minutes, it tells you how disciplined the boys were on the field of play.

“So I need to congratulate them, it was a hard-fought win.

“As a coach, you do something on the training field and your players execute it in a match, it makes you excited.” Prosper Narteh Ogum added.

The win took WAFA into 6th on 32 points after 22 matches while Berekum Chelsea remain 12th with 27 points from 22 matches.

WAFA will host Great Olympics in the matchday 23 games at the Sogakope Sports Complex.
