Namibian giant African Stars close to agreeing terms to make CK Akonnor new manager

Namibian top-flight side African Stars FC is reportedly in advanced talks to appoint former Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach CK Akonnor as their new manager.

According to reports, the club has been closely monitoring the exploits of the gaffer from the time he led the Kumasi based club to the 2018/2019 edition of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The management of the side is said to have been impressed with what he has managed to achieve with the club in the past months and has decided to get him on board as they prepare to participate in the next edition of CAF’s second tier competition.

With negotiations now at an advanced stage, footballghana.com understands that African Stars FC plans to task the former Ashanti Gold head coach to lead the side to win a 5th Namibian Premier League trophy when an agreement is reached.

CK Akonnor was recently relieved of his duties as the head coach of Kotoko after the club appointed Norwegian tactician Kjetil Zachariassen as the new manager of the team.

Though the ex-Black Stars captain has been offered the role of a technical director, he is thought to be weighing his options because he is not interested in that role at the moment.

If African Stars FC reaches an agreement with him, he would be confirmed as their new manager in the next couple of weeks.
