Nana Yaw Amponsah claims until AshGold and Kotoko play, no other match will be honoured

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Yaw Amponsah has disclosed that until their match week 29 encounter against Ashanti Gold SC has been played no game will be played again.

The Porcupine Warriors were supposed to take on the Miners at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Thursday but the game was postponed at the last minute by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) whilst the team had arrived in Obuasi.

Nana Yaw Amponsah has expressed his displeasure asking that the fixture between the league leaders and AshGold be honoured as the Miners could have an impact on deciding the winners of this season’s Premier League.

“Why can’t adequate security be provided in Obuasi? Are we saying that after Sunday matches, the next [home] match of AshGold will be postponed too? Until Kotoko and AshantiGold play their game, no other match will be played and we are writing to the GFA to insist on it,” he said a Twitter Space with Kotoko fan.

“The timing of the decision [punishing AshGold for match-fixing] is so wrong. They [GFA] have created an environment for more manipulations.

“The matches remaining for AshantiGold have a bearing on who becomes champions and gets relegated,” he concluded.

Asante Kotoko are top of the Ghana Premier League table with 56 points and now have a game in hand while Ashanti Gold SC, who have been demoted to the Division Two League for match manipulation are 11th on the log with five matches left to play.
