French-born Ghanaian international Dennis Appiah has recounted what led to his departure from Belgian giants Anderlecht in the summer.
The budding full-back joined Anderlecht from Caen for a fee of 3 million Euros following a very successful season in the French Ligue 1.
After enjoying a good campaign in the Belgian Pro League in his first year, tough times in the second resulted in the Ghanaian leaving Anderlecht at the end of the third season.
Opening up on what led to his departure in a recent interview with Goal, Dennis Appiah explained, "The first year was great. We took the title and reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League. Those were great moments. The following year the coach was fired and there were still more changes”.
The 27-year-old continued, “It was ultimately the wish of the board that I should leave. It was a great opportunity to return to Ligue 1 in any case”.
Dennis Appiah has been in great shape for Nantes in the French Lig 1 this season and has managed to make nine appearances.
