Napoli celebrate Allan's goal against Sassuolo.

Napoli reinforced their title credentials as they beat Sassuolo 3-1 to go three points clear at the top of the table on Sunday.

Goals from Allan, Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens helped Napoli to a 10th win in 11 matches in what was an eventful game at the Stadio San Paolo.

Diego Falcinelli had equalised for Sassuolo before the home side took control again, with both teams also hitting the woodwork twice.

Lazio took full advantage of their early kick-off to close the gap on Serie A's top two, briefly going level on points with Napoli and Juventus by beating bottom side Benevento, still without a point, 5-1.

The Rome club took a fourth-minute lead through Bastos, and by the midway point of the half were in full control thanks to further goals from Ciro Immobile and Adam Marusic.

Achraf Lazaaar's consolation just after the interval was only Benevento's second goal at home in six matches this season, but Marco Parolo restored Lazio's three-goal cushion and Nani scored their fifth late on.
