Napoli close in on promising Genoa striker

It is looking increasingly likely that a deal will be finalised between Genoa and Napoli in the coming days for the transfer of Ivorian Christian Kouame.

Kouame arrived in Genoa this summer after a €5 million transfer from Serie B side Cittadella. The 21-year-old has adjusted nicely to life in Italy’s top flight registering three goals and four assists in 19 league games also adding an assist in his only Coppa Italia appearance.

According to Il Mattino, the two clubs are wrapping up a €22 million deal which would see Kouame finish the season on loan with the Grifone before arriving in Naples this summer. The striker would be making a reported €800,000 per year over five years with the Partenopei.

Genoa currently sit in 14th place and would be smart to keep Kouame until the summer as he has contributed to over a quarter of his team’s Serie A goals this season.

With Napoli sitting comfortably in second place, there is no rush for his arrival and it would be good business to get the deal finalised as his value could increase over the second half of the season.
