And Italy's daily newspaper Il Mattino (as perinsidefutbol) has added fuel to the proverbial fire bysuggesting that the€50m-rated winger is yet to be offered a new contract in Naples, despite initialsuggestions that the club were keen to tie down their star man.

It was thought that Napoli wanted to clarifythe player's current situation by offering him a new deal and if he failed to agree, then they would consider cashing in on one of their star players.

However, reports now suggest that the club are prioritising other players and with Insigne's contract keeping him in Naples until 2019, neither party appears to be in a hurry to the decide his future.

The news will boost Liverpool's hopes of signing the winger, as they consider possible signings in the January transfer window in a bid to reinforce a squad that looks capable of mounting a serious title challenge this season.

Insigne may be lured to Merseysideby that very prospect of a title race, after his current side's own bid to win Serie A continues to stall, as they slippeda 2-1 defeat to current champions Juventus last weekend.

The clubnow sit in fifth place in the league and already appear to be falling behind the Old Lady, who have dominated Serie A for several seasons and more recently stole Napoli's star striker, Gonzalo Higuain in the summer transfer window.
