Ashantigold goalkeeper George Owu wants to help the miners avoid the unpleasant sight of relegation.

Gearge Owu was adjudged player of the month of June after keeping four clean sheets in four games including saving a penalty against Medeama in the Premier League.

The veteran goalkeeper who was brought in by Coach C.K Akunor following the Obuasi based side’s disastrous first half of the season says the club is working hard at avoiding relegation.

“We are hoping to escape relegation by working hard. Gradually, we are climbing high the ladder. It’s our hope to place the team at a respectful position,” he told Abusua FM

“The next four to five matches ahead of us will decide.”

The miners are just a place above the relegation zone with 25 points after an impressive run in June which included victory against Accra Hearts of Oak.

Ashantigold were supposed to face WAFA in the match day 21 of the Ghana Premier League tomorrow but the game has been postponed because the latter has seven players on national assignment.
