Berekum Chelsea played host to Nations FC on Sunday in the Week 5 of the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park.

The host cruised to a narrow victory, courtesy Emmanuel Sarpong’s strike in the crucial game.

After the game, Kasim Mingle disclosed the centre-referee was physically assaulted by some persons, which he believes affected the referee’s performance after the break.

“So, when they came back to the 2nd half, he changed his attitude because he was afraid. They attacked him in presence of us. About 8 or 9 of them. Police intervention that saved him and he went and came back in the 2nd half. So, he was frightened and all of you were witness to whatever happened.” He said.

Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea have since denied Mingle’s accusations.
