NC special competition: Diawisie Taylor and Fatawu Safiu bag 10 goals each to emerge as top scorers in tier 1

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s marksman, Abdul Fatawu Safiu and Karela United deadly striker, Diawisie Taylor has emerged as the top scorers of the tier 1 of the GFA Normalization Committee Special Competition after bagging 10 goals each at the end of the competition.

The novelty competition which started a couple of months ago came to a conclusion on Sunday, June 23, 2019, with Asante Kotoko and Karela United playing in the grand finale at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Prior to the match, Diawisie Taylor looked on course to win the individual accolade having score scored a goal more than Abdul Fatawu Safiu.

The final match which ended 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes saw the Kotoko attacker getting his name on the score sheet to draw his side level after going behind courtesy a strike for Emmanuel Osei Baffour.

Safiu’s penalty goal in the second half helped him to equal Diawisie Taylor’s tally of 10 goals to ensure they both emerged as the joint top scorers of the tier 1 of the NC Special Competition.

Organizers of the competition are expected to share the golden boot accolade between Safiu and Diawisie.

Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors went on to beat Karela 4-1 on penalties to be crowned champions of the tier 1.
