Player welfare has been in the news recently with local players urging football administrators and the GFA to do something about the problem. Asante Kotoko's CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah has revealed what the Porcupine Warriors are doing to solve the player salary issue.

Speaking to local radio station Opemsu FM the Kotoko said CEO said

"My administration has introduced a new contract structure at Kotoko that allows the club not to pay signing-on-fee. The earlier contract was really not helping the club and that has necessitated for changes,”

“Our new recruits will not receive any inducement fee but what they deserve will be spread throughout the year as monthly salary," he added.

“You won’t believe it the kind of debt that emanates from this signing-on-fee system every season,"

"Another demerit of the payment of inducement fee is that it does not cushion the players to give out their best because once they take those huge monies and are sacked they will still go to a different club for the same signing on a fee which is simply not helpful,” he concluded.
