New Italian Serie A addition, Lecce has stepped up their pursuit for Ghanaian International Afriyie Acquah as they look to boost their squad ahead of the 2019/2020 season.

According to local reports in Italy, Lecce has identified the former Torino midfield dynamo as one of a few players that will help their Seria A campaign as they bid to make a good account of themselves at the end of next season.

Afriyie Acquah spent last season on loan at Empoli and despite the fact that the side was relegated, his impressive displays for the most part of the season gives a good account of the qualities he possesses.

Lecce manager Fabio Liverani believes Acquah has loads of experience under his belt and will be able to stabilize his midfield for him. Hence his request to the management of the club to do all they can to sign the Ghanaian for him.

Last season, Afriyie Acquah made 28 Serie A appearances for Empoli and managed to find the back of the net two times.

He has been named as part of the 23-man squad expected to feature for the Black Stars at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. The team is currently holding a pre-tournament training camp in Dubai and the player has been involved in all the two friendly matches they have played so far.

It is believed that his focus at the moment is on the national assignment but will make a decision on his future when the tournament comes to an end.
