Newcastle boss Benitez eager to (finally) work with Casillas

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is chasing Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Benitez hopes to sign the Real Madrid icon for the January market, knowing he is available from Porto.

Casillas has been benched for the past four games after falling out with coach Sergio Conceicao.

Benitez wants to add the Spaniard's experience to his young squad and hopes to take Casillas on a free transfer.

The Toon manager, Tribalfootball.com can reveal, had actively lobbied Real president Florentino Perez not to allow Casillas to leave when he took charge three summers ago.
