Newcastle target Fernando: Not worth me staying with Man City

Fernando admits he's ready to leave Manchester City.

Newcastle have expressed an interest while Galatasaray have been trying to lure him to Turkey.

Fernando told Diario de Noticias: “My first goal is to go out and play. It's not worth staying at Manchester City and not being used.

Fernando is on his way out of City.

“I want to play and I already told the club. Let's wait, the club is waiting for a good proposal."

It was suggested that a return to Porto - where he made his name as a dynamic defensive midfielder – might be on the cards, and Fernando replied: “I'll never close the doors to FC Porto. It's the club of my heart, a great club, but you never know.

"If you ask me if someone from FC Porto contacted me, there was nothing. But you never know…"

He was then asked what value City had placed on him and he answered: “Between seven and eight million euros. The club that offered money for my rights was Galatasaray (£6.2m-£7.1m).

“City want to sell me, but what's good for the club might not be good for me. It's no use to only be good for one part, hence the difficulty in solving this subject. By August 31st, anything can happen."
