According to the Chronicle, Atsu and Brazilian forward Joelinton have left UK following the club's decision to shut down their training ground for two weeks as the Magpies have personal training programmes to all their players.

The 28-year-old's contract is set to expire by 2021, having established himself at the club making over 105 appearances which is more than what he managed at the previous seven clubs he was at (89).

He joined Newcastle United from Chelsea after failing to hit the ground running following his move from FC Porto.

Professional football in England was originally suspended until at least April 3 2020 but this week we saw the 30 April 2020 as the new date when at the very earliest football might start again.
