Barcelona forward Neymar has admitted that the team will be sad to see manager Luis Enrique leave at the end of the season.

The Spaniard announced last week that he will be stepping down as the Catalan's manager in the summer, following a largely successful three-year stint with the club.

Enrique made a stunning start to life at the Nou Camp when he won the treble in his first season as Barca manager, and though he enjoyed another successful campaign last year, the current season has proven to be a lot more testing for the 46-year-old, who suggested that he was in need of a break when he confirmed his decision to step down as head coach.

A 4-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League last-16 last month has highlighted the need for a fresh beginning at the Nou Camp and as Enrique prepares for his final months in charge, Neymar has confessed that the squad are sad to hear he will be leaving in the summer.

The Brazilian said (as quoted by theMail): "It's sad because he is someone we have a lot of affection for.

"We have been with him for three seasons and we have a lot of faith in him. We wish him the best in life.

"He knows what is best for him and we are just happy with how he has helped us in the last few years in which we have won so many trophies."

A decision on who will succeed Enrique has yet to be announced, but whilst the club's directors are expected to take their time over the decision, it is likely that the new manager will either be an internal appointment, or someone connected to Barcelona who is likely to have a good understanding of the Catalan's values.
