Nigeria coach reacts to playing Egypt in Cameroon

Augustine Eguavoen, coach of the Nigeria national team, has spoken about the difficulties they would encounter when competing against Egypt in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held in five locations in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2022.

The Super Eagles were drawn in Group D alongside Guinea-Bissau, Sudan, and Egypt, the seven-time African champions, whom they will meet in the opening match on January 11th.

The Super Eagles will enter the competition with a star-studded lineup that includes Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Despite his complete confidence in his players and staff, Eguavoen recognises that they will have to work extremely hard to defeat the Pharaohs.

“I played against Egypt as a player and as a coach. Facing them in the Africa Cup of Nations will not be an easy task,” Nigeria interim manager told the Nigerian Football Federation TV.

“We will do everything possible to analyse the Egyptian national team, individually and collectively, in order to draw up our plans,"

“We also expect Egypt to do so because Nigeria is a big name in African football,"

“We are currently studying the Egyptian national team, and we will continue to do so until we are prepared to face them,” he concluded.
