Your most trusted Ghanaian football online portal has learned that as it stands, neither Hearts of Oak nor Asante Kotoko have the approval to use the Cape Coast Stadium as their home venue for the upcoming Africa campaign.
After emerging as champions of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season, Asante Kotoko earned the right to represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
For Hearts of Oak, the team successfully defended the MTN FA Cup and as a result, will return to Africa to play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
On Wednesday morning, several reports suggested that both Ghanaian giants have been given clearance by CAF to play their home games at the Cape Coast Stadium.
After digging deep, it has been learned that despite the reports, CAF has not given such a clearance.
Officials of CAF are expected to arrive in the country prior to the first round of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League to inspect the venue that will be submitted by Asante Kotoko.
Although the Cape Coast Stadium is being considered by the club, sources have disclosed that the officials of the team are working with the NSA to explore the possibility of making the Baba Yara Sports Stadium the home venue for the CAF Champions League campaign.
A similar process will be followed by Hearst of Oak, the Ghanaian club that has been given a pass in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
