The Italian has been accused of forging a bank letter during the takeover of the club in 2014 and it is understood the Premier League could yet deduct points from Watford should the allegations prove to be true.

But former Malaga forward Amrabat has backed Watford's owner to be cleared of any wrongdoing.

The Hornets were 1-0 victors against Hull City at VicarageRoad, taking them to four wins in their last seven Premier League matches and Ambrabat believes Pozzo's 'fantastic work' is behind the team's success.

"We heard about it but everybody in the team supports Mr Pozzo in what he does and what he did the last few years for Watford," Amrabat said.

"He has done fantastic work for Watford and when you see him he is a gentleman, he looks like a lawyer or something, and I know for sure it is nothing."

The 29-year-old added on Watford's current form: "Now we just keep going. We don't really look at the table - it is good at the moment but if we lose two games we will be down again."

Hornets boss Walter Mazzari was also dismissive of the allegations and insisted everybody at Watford is 'calm'.

"Believe me when I tell you that you that inside the club we are very calm," he said.

"When we prepared for this game we didn't even think about what was in the newspaper, my job and the players' job is to work on the pitch, that is what we do, not even one player has asked me about it."
