"If you look for people who are currently employed then you do it quickly," he told reporters last week.

"I promised we would bring in real, deep football experience. We are going to do that “ but there is still more work to do."

Moxey has had spells with Partick Thistle, Glasgow Rangers, and Stoke City before his sixteen-year spell with Wolves where he saw the West Midlands club reach the Premier League twice but also spent a season in League 1.

Moxey, upon his resignation with Wolves, said:I think I've done my bit for Wolves. My job's done, it's time for somebody else. After 16 years it's time to go out on a high and pass on this club.

He also expressed his delight at the ownership of Wolves' new billionaire ownership and feels they will be in safe hands.

He added: "One of the things Steve Morgan said is that, at Wolverhampton Wanderers, every single thing is in place.

We have the management structure, the foundations, a young team, brilliant facilities, a great stadium, fantastic staff and brilliant fans in their tens of thousands.

What the fans have always wanted “ and what we have wanted “ is to have an owner that has the financial capital to be able to invest heavily into the team."
