Ghana and West Ham star Andre Ayew is confident of a win against Egypt in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday. Andre Ayew who doubts his fitness level, will captain Ghana on Sunday in Alexandria for the crucial game. The 26-year-old has only made two premier league starts for the hammers since signing for them during the summer due to an injury he sustained on his debut in August. The talented player has been declared fit by the medial team of West Ham and was in action for them in the Premier League on Sunday against Stoke City but failed to last for the entire game. Speaking to West Ham's official website prior to his departure for the Ghana game, Ayew revealed he will fight hard to help Ghana beat Egypt despite not being fully fit. “Yes, it’s a very, very important game for us. We drew our first game at home and now we are going to Egypt, which is a very difficult one for us, so we need to prepare well.
“I am not 100 per cent but I will try to give my best for my country and hopefully get a win and, at the same time, get more game-time.”
Ghana needs a win in Alexandria to ease their chances of securing a fourth successive appearance at the mundial having dropped points at home to Uganda in the first game after a 0-0 draw. Egypt on the other hand, occupy the top spot in group E after beating Congo in Brazzaville by two goals to one and are hoping to maintain their fine start to the qualifiers with another win against the Black Stars.
