Nottingham Forest are nearing an agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of forward Eddie Nketiah.

Talks between the two clubs have advanced, with Forest pushing hard to bring the 25-year-old England international to the City Ground.

Earlier this week, The Athletic reported that Forest had their initial bid of £25 million, including add-ons, rejected by Arsenal.

The London club seeks a fee closer to £30-35 million, but negotiations continue as Forest aim to secure Nketiah as their primary attacking target.

Nketiah, who has scored 38 goals in 168 appearances for Arsenal, was previously linked with a move to Marseille earlier in the summer. However, the two clubs could not agree on a transfer fee.

Crystal Palace have also shown interest in the forward but are not currently engaged in discussions with Arsenal as actively as Forest.

Forest are preparing for their third consecutive Premier League season and see Nketiah as a crucial addition alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Meanwhile, Forest continue to strengthen their squad under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, with the club starting their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.

They return to action against newly-promoted Southampton on Saturday, hoping to build on their promising start.
