In a post on their Twitter account, Liga MX side Atlas announced the acquisition of midfielder Gonzalo Maroni.
Maroni arrives to Guadalajara from Argentine giants Boca Juniors on a one-year loan deal with option to buy. The young midfielder joins Franco Troyansky and Julian Quinones as Atlas' third addition in this transfer window. He underwent a medical on Tuesday in Guadalajara before signing the contract that will tie him to the zorros for this season.
The 22-year old has already amassed considerable experience, having played in Argentina for Instituto and Talleres de Cordoba on top of Boca Juniors, but he also has experience in European football, having played one season at Serie A at Sampdoria in the 2019-2020 season. He now joins Atlas, in what will be his first foray into Mexican football, and the Guadalajara club is hopeful he can help them reach the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
