Through his official web profiles, former German international right-back, turned defensive midfielder in latest two seasons, Philipp Lahm, announced having quit professional football as a player (clarifying he would not be ready, so far at least, to become a trainer). Bayern Munich icon, who spent almost his whole career playing for Die Roten, except for a 2003-05 loan experience at Stuttgart, left at 33 years old, after having collected (with two Bundesliga games left) 516 official caps, scored 16 goals, won 8 Bundesliga titles, 6 national cups, 3 national supercups, 1 Champions League (2012/13), 1 UEFA Supercup, 1 FIFA Club World Cup. Besides, Lahm won a World Cup as a Germany player in 2014, collecting 113 caps overall, and scoring 5 goals.
Only 2 more days until my last game. Unbelievably excited to play in front of a sold out crowd and take in the atmosphere one last time! pic.twitter.com/ZdImBlGz9Q
