Orlando Pirates withdraw interest for Sogne Yacouba

The Burkinabe is no longer a target for South African giants Orlando Pirates according to reports.

Pirates have been searching for a striker for sometime now with the club having been linked with some top performers in the Absa Premiership, including SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler and Bonginkosi Ntuli of AmaZulu, among other others.

Outside South Africa, the Buccaneers have been linked with Burkina Faso international Songne Yacouba, who has been involved in a contractual dispute with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in the last few months.

However, reports in Ghana this past week have indicated that the forward could finally reach an agreement with Kotoko, before his deal ends in April, though the Ghanaian giants have shot down rumors that the player might have already put pen to paper.

“It is never true (that) Yacouba has extended his contract with Asante Kotoko neither have we agreed on any terms, it is non-existent as we speak. Let’s not do anything that will pile pressure on the player and the club. We do not want to give too much attention to Sogne Yacouba and his contract issues. We are still in talks with him for a possible renewal, he is our player and we are interested in extending his stay,” Kennedy Boakye Ansah, Kotoko's communications director revealed.
